Notes: An extremely rare vintage Patagonia Hi-Loft Goose Down Sweater from F/W 1988 in great well-loved preowned vintage condition with signs of heavy wear. Signs of wear include two green repair patches on the back-right sleeve as seen in photo 2. Introduced in F/W 1988, this was the original Patagonia Hi-Loft Down Jacket model.

“The Down Sweater is a clean rendition of the classic, lightweight down jacket. The density of the down varies from shoulder to waist: a higher density in the chest and shoulders warms the vulnerable upper body, while below, where there are pockets (and thus a double layer), there is less density of fill. A side effect of this density variation is that we avoided the Bartlett-shape look so common in down garments. Attention has been given to fit. The Y-Joint™ sleeves allow free, non-binding arm movement. Under the arm is a long panel, rather than baffles, so you avoid looking like a doughboy. The quilting seam lines on the sweater offset those on the vest, so when you layer the two together you won't have any cold spots. The down-filled collar is contoured to wrap up and around the back of your neck; it's fitted and overlapped at the front to keep your chin warm. The lightweight zipper ends below the chin so you won't freeze yourself to the zipperstop. It's protected by a storm flap. The wrists and waist are trimmed in Lycra® to seal out drafts and allow easy layering over the sweater. Down filled pockets are protected with flaps. The sweater has its own stuff sack” (Patagonia, Fall 1989).
